Entrepreneurship

An entrepreneur is someone like you

Do you:

  • Have great ideas and do something about them
  • Hunt for opportunities to promote their ideas
  • Thrive on the challenge of creating their own big breaks
  • Make money out of solving problems and selling their ideas
  • Usually start up their own businesses

How old do you have to be?

Any age! If you have a great idea and the determination to make it happen.

What do you need?

  • A problem — and a unique way of solving the problem.
  • A lot of determination and belief in your idea.
  • Some emotional support from your friends, your family, your teacher or the support of a mentor who has a lot of experience and knowledge and is prepared to help you out.
  • Some financial support from your family or people (venture capitalists) who believe in your idea and will help you out with some cash to get started.

Hunting for that great idea…

Finding that great idea can sometimes be as simple as thinking of something you love, and then thinking of something that would make it even better.

  • Write down your hobbies, skills, passions.
  • Write down your skills, things you’re good at.
  • Write down a list

and then…

  • Talk to your friends.
  • Go to trade shows.
  • Search for opportunities.
  • Keep an eye on the latest trends.
  • Write down your goals.
  • Research your industry.
  • Talk to people in your field.
  • Keep focused, and don’t give up!

There are also heaps of places you can go to study how to become an entrepreneur. You can combine business training with scientific training to give you an advantage. Some science degrees even offer subjects in entrepreneurship, information property and how to make your idea into a successful business.

Whatever you’re into, there are opportunities to create new products and services. Find something that turns you on and change the world…
